On July 2nd, 2024, Pagani Automobili unveiled the Huayra Epitome, a one-off creation from the esteemed “Grandi Complicazioni” division, showcasing technology, design, and customization in road-legal Hypercars. This extraordinary vehicle is a testament to Pagani’s relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation, designed in close collaboration with a discerning client whose vision has pushed the boundaries of automotive artistry and performance.
The journey of the Huayra Epitome began with a client with a clear vision: to create a singular expression of the Huayra that would epitomize its highest potential. This vision was meticulously translated into reality through an intricate process of collaboration and craftsmanship. Over nine months of conceptualization and ten months of design, Horacio Pagani and his team worked closely with the client, ensuring every detail was perfectly tailored. As Lorenzo Kerkoc, Head of Pagani Grandi Complicazioni, said: “Working with clients who have a clear vision allows us to face new challenges with passion and enthusiasm, transforming their dreams into tangible masterpieces.”
At the core of the Huayra Epitome lies the Pagani V12 engine, a 5,980 cc twin-turbocharged marvel built by AMG to Pagani’s exacting specifications. This engine propels the Epitome into superlative performance by delivering an impressive 864 HP (635 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 1,100 Nm of torque. The engine’s design includes a distribution system that extends the limiter to 6,700 rpm, offering an exhilarating driving experience.
In a first for the Huayra series, the Epitome is equipped with a manual transmission, providing a purely mechanical connection between driver and machine. The seven-speed transverse gearbox, developed by Xtrac, features an electronically controlled differential and a racing-style tripod driveshaft, ensuring the engine’s power is seamlessly transferred to the road. This configuration, coupled with the latest triple-disc clutch and an electronically managed differential, enhances responsiveness and control.
Pagani’s commitment to technological advancement is evident in the Epitome’s suspension system. Designed to minimize dive, pitch, and roll, the suspension allows for precise handling and improved safety, enabling the driver to tackle corners confidently. An active suspension system further enhances driving comfort with a “super soft” mode that can be activated for a smoother ride on rough roads. The suspension automatically adjusts at higher speeds to maintain optimal performance.
The aerodynamic design is a masterpiece of form and function. The all-new front and rear bumper shapes, exclusive light clusters and wheel arch air extraction system contribute to the car’s sleek, aggressive profile. The integrated rear wing, developed from the side muscles of the hood, exemplifies the synthesis of art and science, improving aerodynamics while maintaining Huayra’s signature elegance.
Every Huayra Epitome design element has been crafted to meet the client’s exacting standards. The front bumper features an integrated splitter to enhance downforce, while the exclusive light units provide aesthetic appeal and improved illumination. With its integrated wing and aerodynamic cover for the rear lights, the rear design reduces airflow resistance and adds to the car’s dynamic look. The wheels, inspired by the Imola Coupé from the client’s collection, are forged from aluminium alloy and paired with Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres, ensuring optimal grip and performance. Combined with the lightweight six-way titanium exhaust system, these elements create a symphony of sound and power uniquely Pagani.
