The OTAM 90 GTS “SEXY ME” is the latest masterpiece from the renowned Italian shipyard, making a splash with its world debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival. Celebrating its 70th anniversary, it has marked this milestone with an extraordinary creation that showcases the perfect blend of luxury, performance, and customized design. Matteo Belardinelli, Sales and Communication Manager at OTAM, shares, “Celebrating our 70th anniversary with a project like the OTAM 90 GTS and with a client so decisive in their requests has been the best gift we could receive. It was another opportunity to take on the challenge of customizing a high-speed boat, where even shifting 50 kilograms from starboard to port can make a difference. These are the challenges that allow us to evolve and grow.”

Measuring 28 meters, this yacht embodies speed and power, equipped with two 2,600-horsepower MTU engines paired with Arneson surface propellers. This powerful combination has allowed an impressive top speed of 45.4 knots, exceeding the contracted speed of 42 knots. This achievement is even more remarkable, as it was accomplished during sea trials off the coast of Cannes with a sizable crew onboard, all while maintaining incredibly smooth and responsive navigation, a signature of OTAM’s renowned seaworthiness and performance.

The journey to achieving these performance standards was not without challenges. The customizations requested by the owner, including a rotating passerelle, stabilizers, extensive use of marble, and a high-end stereo system with a dedicated rack room, added extra weight. One of the most notable feats was the exceptional quietness of the yacht at all speeds, achieved through careful flow studies that eliminated turbulence around the vessel. Even though the GTS is a semi-open version, comfort onboard remains impeccable at high speeds and in challenging sea conditions. Customized design has always been a defining feature of OTAM yachts, and the 90 GTS “SEXY ME” is no exception. Collaborating with Giuseppe Bagnardi of BG Design Firm, he has created a yacht that radiates Italian craftsmanship and precision. This yacht stands out with its aesthetic, making it a floating testament to the art of fine boatbuilding. The materials chosen for the interior and exterior bring an elevated sense of luxury to every corner of the yacht. Travertine and marble cover the floors and bulkheads, with parquet flooring cut at a 45-degree angle to enhance the natural beauty of each material. Bronze details are seamlessly integrated with gold and pink-hued marble, creating a sophisticated, refined, and refreshingly airy ambience.

For a touch of sportiness, the helm console takes inspiration from high-performance racing cars, featuring a carbon-fibre structure similar to the ‘halo’ safety system used in Formula 1. This feature also includes a dedicated cooling system to maintain an optimal temperature for the console’s electronics, ensuring performance even under the most demanding conditions. Air intakes on the front, and a snorkel on the hardtop echo the scoops in luxury sports cars, accentuating the yacht’s dynamic character.

Belardinelli explains, “We concentrated on a meticulous analysis of weight distribution and the engineering of the superstructure to eliminate all support pillars. The expansive structural side windows and spherical windscreen of the helm create an incredible sense of space onboard, complemented by an internal height of over 2.20 meters. This design ensures perfect visibility even when seated and allows unobstructed natural light, translating into luxury, design, and an enhanced quality of life.”

Every aspect is crafted to meet the owner’s specific vision. The layout includes three ensuite guest cabins, including a full-beam owner’s suite, a VIP cabin, and an additional guest cabin, providing ample space and privacy for all guests. Below deck, there’s a spacious lounge area with an office and a dedicated room for the yacht’s high-end stereo system. On the main deck, the expansive cockpit with an opening hardtop is designed for socializing, while separate access leads to the kitchen, intentionally isolated from the VIP areas. The aft section of the yacht features a large sunbathing area and bathing platform, while the forward area includes a cosy dinette and dining space accessible via generous side walkways.

The yacht offers endless customization options, including side windows, hull window variations for the master suite, and adaptable garage space capable of accommodating a 4.35-meter tender. This focus on personalization demonstrates the crafting of unique yachts that reflect each owner’s individual tastes and needs. Commitment to bespoke yacht building is evident in every detail, positioning it as a modern icon of Italian luxury and performance. The OTAM CO DESIGN LAB offers future owners the opportunity to collaborate with their designers, ensuring that every yacht truly expresses its owner’s vision.

Mr Belardinelli concludes, “This is a comprehensive project, an exceptionally versatile series available in three variants: GTS, HT, and T-TOP. It features an elegant and balanced design intended to stand the test of time. Thanks to a foundational engineering approach that is truly unmatched, it can accommodate a wide array of diverse requests.”
