Ivano Carniello, a man whose ties to the land merge with his unwavering passion for wine, unfolds a tale steeped in the traditions of the hills of “Valdobbiadene – Veneto” in Italy. His life is a fabric woven with memories of the hills of Vidor, a small village in the province of Treviso, where his parents’ traditions merged into a singular identity.
– Ivano Carniello –
Born to a post-war immigrant and a Swiss mother, Ivano lived a childhood oscillating between two worlds. School holidays spent in Vidor were a journey through time for him, a return to the peasant roots and simplicity of those places. An unbreakable bond with his country of origin continues to nourish him to this day.
Despite a well-established career in the world of motors, the passion for wine took precedence in Ivano’s life. “Wine is an artistic expression that tells stories of men and diverse cultures scattered throughout the world,” he passionately confesses. This passion led him to found Ombre d’Uva, a company dedicated to selling and promoting prestigious wine labels. Through his company, Ivano had the opportunity to meet and collaborate with prestigious wineries, among which the renowned Brokenwood Winery stands out.
Founded in 1970 by three lawyers from Sydney, Brokenwood Wines emerged from the enthusiasm of a project born casually on a plot intended for a cricket field. The decision to plant Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz marked the beginning of an adventure that, despite initially having modest experience in the wine sector, led to the creation of prestigious wines and the consolidation of Brokenwood’s reputation as one of the most respected labels in Australia.
Today, his vision through Ombre d’Uva intertwines with Brokenwood’s philosophy, blending Venetian tradition with Australian expertise in winemaking. A union that transcends geographical borders, celebrating the beauty and diversity in every sip. Their union represents a wine journey that exalts Australian refinement and the authenticity of the Venetian lands, merging the two cultures through the universal language of wine.
It’s a meeting of passions, a dialogue between different worlds converging in the beauty of the “Nectar of the Gods.” Ivano Carniello, Ombre d’Uva and Brokenwood Wines bear witness to a story that embraces roots and celebrates diversity, offering the world the emotion and flavour encapsulated in every drop.
This is more than a simple tale of two prestigious entities; it’s a journey into the soul of those who love and respect the land and its essence, transforming wine into a means of sharing and discovering distant worlds, united by the passion and taste for oenological excellence.
